Feversham GateFeversham Gate, off Wigginton Road, York. Need somewhere close to the city centre without being tied into a mortgage for an apartment bigger than you need or can afford? If so, Feversham Gate, just off Feversham Crescent, to the north of York city centre could be just up your street with a choice of one and two-bedroom apartments in a practical setting. In some senses, Feversham Gate is a slave to its own fantastic location. Wigginton Road is a key gateway in and out of the York with the A1237 ring road at one end and the city centre at the other and suffers from regular peak-time snarl-ups. The extensive Clifton Moor retail park is just a short five-minute drive away where there is a 24-hour supermarket, late-opening pharmacy, pop restaurants and bowling and cinema entertainment along with a host of larger-than-life specialist shops. But there is more to Feversham Gate than the location though. Spacious living areas are emphasised by slick contemporary styling with the apartments set around a private courtyard. The modern billing is backed up by designer kitchen appliances while the style boxes are ticked by a close eye to detail with flush oak veneer doors, recessed downlighting and fitted wardrobes in every bedroom. Parking is not an issue – spaces are allocated within the development to eliminate the stress and expense of the nearby residents parking scheme. Bikes are also catered for, offering a green and health-friendly alternative to getting around with cycle lanes a common sight both inside and out of the city walls. If you prefer to go on foot, the city centre is about a kilometre away, or the number 6 bus stops at the end of Feversham Crescent every ten minutes during the day. Less than a quarter of a mile up the road is the main Nestle Rowntree factory. One of the biggest employers in York, the factory turns out tonnes of confectionary every year. Feversham Gate’s 20 stylish apartments make an ideal base for the hundreds of employees working both on the lines and in the magic development rooms behind the scenes. And when the wind blows in the right direction, the smell of chocolate fills the area. Depending on the time of year, you can detect anything from KitKats to Mint Aero. Sounds great, smells better, but if you’re on a diet this could be a nightmare as you’re sent running to a nearby corner shop to fulfil the craving! Yards away in the opposite direction is the York District Hospital and Bootham Hospital a little further down the road. A big plus for prospective workers such as nurses – especially if odd shifts are on the menu – but the sirens that accompany the Accident and Emergency department might grate the nerves if there’s a young child trying to sleep, although this is rarely an issue after dark. On the subject of noise, train tracks run close to the back of Feversham Gate but double-glazing should soak up most of that. A mix of one and two-bedroom flats widen the options with one bedroom apartments starting at £129,950 or if you want the supersized version, the two bed properties range from just £20,000 extra. Feversham Gate York is open for viewing now, and can be arranged by calling Stephensons Estate Agents on 01904 625533. |
